Gmail Verified Sender Program
Google announced a pilot program for political committees to keep email broadcasts out of the spam folders of Gmail users.
As Joe Biden would say, this is a BFD.
- Gmail is the largest provider of voter email accounts
- Gmail users are more educated, engaged, and affluent than other free services like AOL, Yahoo, and MSN
- Gmail spam filters currently prevent political campaigns from reaching likely supporters unless they verifiably subscribe – this would no longer be the case
This pilot program was created following immense pressure from Republicans, whose broadcasts are blocked at a higher rate by Gmail because they use spammy practices like refusing to process unsubscribe requests.
Democrats.com has been tracking Google’s pilot program carefully, since we are determined to make sure Democrats benefit equally with Republicans.
And now Democrats.com is leveraging our 22 years of industry-leading email broadcasting experience to help eligible Democratic committees
- Apply
- Meet all technical specifications (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, etc.)
- Comply with all program requirements (unsubscribe, anti-spam, disclosure, etc.)
- Rent up to 12 million Democratic emails with Gmail accounts (see state Gmail counts below).
The pilot is limited to these FEC categories, and all applications must be approved by Google.
