Democrats in Kentucky's First Congressional District have a new challenge for Exxon Ed Whitfield, our horrible Congressman. Many of you long time members may remember the Eric Streit campaign two years ago. We are back this time with a different candidate, Heather Ryan. Heather is a Navy veteran, Mother, former campaign manager, and former director of the Paducah Film Society. You can read about her dismissal at Mitch McConnell's whim here:

Heather is one of the smartest ladies I know, and a definate asset to our party here in Western Kentucky. Now, the campaign has already recieved some outstanding news!! This time, only one candidate announced by the deadline to do so for the primary in the Democratic Party!! That means Heather Ryan is THE DEMOCRAT that will be taking on Exxon Eddie in the fall!!
That means there is a grassroots Democrat right here in Kentucky that definately will be running against an established Republican this fall. Our Congressional candidates are the most important tools we have to take back our Party, and our country. They have a profound impact.
Heather Ryan is a proud member of the Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party. Her website is not quite finished but close, and soon I will be able to show you her vision for our district, state and nation. Democrats.com was very supportive of grassroots Democrats in Western Kentucky in our last attempt to fight for our party and nation and I am eternally grateful. We are once again embarking on an uphill fight to take back our Congressional seat for our neighbors, and remove the rubber-stamp Ed Whitfield constantly uses for the failed policies of Mitch McConnell and President Bush.
