Call me crazy, but
while I agree that the list of impeachable offenses is mind boggling, and it is the sworn duty of our Representatives to uphold the Constitution, I can't help feeling that the first priority of a new Congress should be to give all Americans no reason to vote for Republicans ever again. That includes creating and returning good American jobs to this shore, restoring America's prestige (and its security) by dealing with Iraq and the middle east in as even handed manner as possible, returning our lost Constitutional rights, and securing our borders.
If it is true that people largely vote with their wallets, as Jim will attest to, last night's victory was as much about the economy as it was with Iraq and ethics. Let us try to help every American live in prosperity, in peace with the earth, and in peace with each other.
But if impeachment comes up, I want these a**holes burned at the stake.

Unfortunately, my man Shannon lost. But Illinois can't get much more Blue than it is. We have much to celebrate this morning, but in January, we have got to get to running the country.
For 6 years we have accused the Republicans of ruling instead of governing. Now we have to show them what that means.
What I hope that happens first is that the Congress returns the media to a more "fair and balanced" state and sees ownership as the true monopoly it has become. Nothing is more disturbing to true political discourse is noise machine of right wing radio. True conservatives and liberals understand this.
But I am not in charge of prioritizing what Congress does or doesn't do first. The list of demands coming from all sectors of the party will be huge. I am will to give them some space to sort it all out. But I hope that they put peace, prosperity, and ALL Ameicans first.
And that statement is the only hand I am going to reach across the aisle with. If they don't like it, F*** them. I reach only once.

Now that democrats control the purse strings, does anyone here believe that there will not be investigations regarding how the money our grandchildren have yet to earn has been squandered/misappropriated?

It was our money they wasted on the Clinton debacle. And our money they wasted on Afganistan and Iraq. Let the subpeonas fly.
But we need to balance that with positives that all Americans will benefit from, because Fox News isn't dead yet.

I agree with you that
I agree with you that Democrats need to enact legislature that helps the ordinary citizen like minimum wage, health care,etc. While I am a strong supporter of Bush and company being impeached, I feel that impeachment precedings would anger the population. I remember during the Clinton impeachment hearings my mom and family friends always complained that the hearings had nothing to do with the nation, it was rather a witch hunt dealing with personal issues that otherwise did not affect the country. I know that because of Bush we have lost many soldiers and families have been hurt by it. But I believe people would rather see a real plan to get our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan and make sure no more soldiers die for this war. Death and war is never easy to talk about for those who have been directly affected by it. Having impeachment hearings would cause those memories to come back and cause more pain for the families. If people see that Democrats care about the country and work to make it better then the chances of keeping power goes up. I saw many exit polls that people were upset about the war and national issues. People are tired of the way politics have gone during Bush's term. People are tired of hearing the bickering between parties about who can keep the country safe. People want to see government work for them and help out the ordinary citizen. Our country is supposed to be a government for the people by the people. Hopefully Democrats will go after securing support for the future by helping everyone instead of just the party.
There is a huge difference
There is a huge difference between spending millions of taxpayer dollars trying to impeach a preisdent for lying about a blow job, and using the Constitution to put a criminal in jail.
It is not "bickering" about the degree of guilt, when criminal intent, lies to the American people and Congress, and corporate greed lead to the deaths of thousands of innocent people. Upholding the Constitution and the American legal system is the rightful job and responsibility of every elected official -- not just Democrats.
As LootieMaye told another "let's just forgive and forget" poster: I would certainly want you on my jury if I were a murderer.
If we are to believe version #43 of Dubya's excuse for invading Iraq, Saddam is going to hang for killing far fewer people. And, Dubya and Cheney applauded that verdict...
