Tell Denny Hastert to ResignHouse Speaker Denny Hastert insists he knew nothing about Mark Foley's predatory behavior until the scandal broke on 9/29/06. But two-thirds of Americans believe Hastert is covering up the truth. And now we know Hastert's Chief of Staff, Scott Palmer, confronted Foley about his abuses several years ago, according to a front page story in the Washington Post. Palmer and Hastert are extraordinarily close; they are roommates in Washington DC. It's impossible to believe Hastert was unaware of Palmer's confrontation with Foley. That means Hastert is lying about what he knew and when he knew it - and is indeed leading a coverup. Denny Hastert must resign as Speaker of the House immediately. Tell your Representative:

One poster over at DU has Denny all figured out...
thread is entitled:
JABBA THE HASTERT
[general discussion--politics]
If you really think about it...Hastert does resemble Jabba the Hut.

The greatest derangement of the mind is to believe in something because one wishes it to be so.

Just wondering
If Hastert resigns, a huge (pun intended) target is gone. The MSM seems to have focused a good portion of their investigation on him, and that cannot be a bad thing. If he resigns, the MSM's short attention span gets focused elsewhere.
Perhaps it is better to have the republicans' allow this all to drag on, as more sordid details about the extent of Hastert's knowledge/involvement/indifference are revealed. Every day more lies are being exposed and many are still digging because Hastert maintains his "innocence" (for lack of a better word) and refuses to resign.
It's a short time until Election Day and if the republicans want to have Hastert man their sinking ship, I think we should let them!
Perhaps November 7th will make all of this a moot point...
