The Progressive Choices in the California Democratic Primary Contests

Governor: Phil Angelides. He's the progressive candidate who proposes government, not corporate, solutions. He defends net neutrality.
Secretary of State: Debra Bowen. She would ensure that, at least in California, every vote is counted as it was cast, and that the count is verifiable. If we can't ensure that in California, we can kiss national elections goodbye. Read Brad Friedman's endorsement.

CA04: Charles Brown. He's a small-d democrat who cares about honestly representing constituents.
CA06: Lynn Woolsey. As Co-Chair of the Progressive Caucus, Woolsey has led efforts to end the illegal war in Iraq. Can you imagine the blow to the peace movement if our leading representative in Congress loses to a wealthy "centrist." Lynn has had our backs -- we need to have hers.
CA11: Jerry McNerney. He's endorsed by Progressive Democrats of America.
CA12: Kevin Hearle. He's running in order to impeach the criminals in the White House.
CA26: Cynthia Matthews. She supports immediate withdrawal from Iraq and repeal of the anti-labor section 14-B of the Taft-Hartley law.
CA28: Charles Coleman, Jr.. A proud member of the Impeach Team.
CA29: Bob McCloskey. A proud member of the Impeach Team.
CA35: Maxine Waters. She chairs the Out of Iraq Caucus and has as strong a spine as can be found in Congress.
CA36: Marcy Winograd. She supports impeachment, ending the war, single-payer health care, alternative energy, media reform, a verifiable paper-trail for honest elections, campaign finance reform, investment in education. Marcy is the real deal. And she's up against a Republican in Democratic clothing: Jane Harman. Read More.
CA40: Christina Avalos. She supports ending the war, creating a Department of Peace, and ending military recruitment at schools.
CA42: Mark Hull-Richter (write-in). He supports impeachment, immediate withdrawal from Iraq, and publicly funded election campaigns.
CA51: Bob Filner. He worked with Congressman Kucinich to organize Democrats to vote against the war. He was also the only white Democrat to join the Congressional Black Caucus in protesting Stolen Election 2000.
CA52: Karen Marie Otter. She supports impeachment.

David, I have problems with Angelides.

He's a former developer who still maintains strong ties to big development.

I know he was the former Chairman of the CA Democratic Party, but I don't feel
he has the State's best interest at heart.

Also, Steve Westly tried to get Angelides to sign a petition stating they would not
engage in negative campaining. Angelides refused to sign it and threw the first
mud at Westly. Westly came back swinging at which Angelides accused him of
breaking his promise. It was a pact, Phil never agreed to it.

I just don't trust someone who spends all of his energy trashing his opponents and
very little time telling us what he would do as governor.

I do support the other progressive candidates.

Don't forget Larry Caballero,

the only Dem. running for State Senator- 35th District.

He's a progressive Democrat.
